Winter is winter

It doesn't matter where you live, winter is winter. A Florida winter might not have snow and frigid temperatures, but we still get colds and flus and sickness like everywhere else.

Tate has been battling one thing after another since the beginning of January. A cold, which turned into croup, which turned into bronchitis, which became another cold and then onto a double ear infection...you get my point.

Finally, on Wednesday, we went in for a follow up and were given the all clear. He's still on the nebulizer, but only one medicine has to be nebbed, not two.

Wouldn't you know, that that night around midnight, he was burning up with fever. Not even 24 hours of being 'healthy' and he's sick again! All day Thursday I gave him Tylenol and Motrin to bring down his temp, but I never could get it below 102.

Around 6:15, he was so lethargic, just flopped on the couch next to Chris that I picked him up to go put him in bed. He was burning up. I took his temp and had to look twice when I read 105.1. I didn't even know it could go that high!

We put him in the car and went right to the ER. He had been fighting me on drinking all day and had only had about 4 oz. total. And no wet diapers.

We finally got it back down to 102 and came home. The ER Dr wanted to start him on antibiotics for his ears, but I knew his ear wasn't infected. He said they could be infected. But he had just been given the all clear 24 hours before from our pediatrician who I know and trust a lot more than an ER Dr who is probably just looking for an easy reason for the fever. We opted to not take the antibiotics and came home.

All day Friday he was feverish and lethargic. We went to the Dr in the morning and had bloodwork and a chest x-ray done and gave a urine sample so they can rule everything out.

This morning, Saturday, his fever was back up to 104.9. We put him in a tepid bath and started alternating Tylenol and Motrin again, every 2-3 hours. He's so cranky and fussy and whiny. He still won't eat anything and he's starting to look skinny. He drank a little more today, but not enough for my liking.

Still no reason for the fever. Hopefully he'll wake up tomorrow good as new.
