The ones that didn't turn out
Cassidy made a comment about me always taking pictures, that I thought was funny. Funny because it's so true. The beauty of a digital camera is that you can take 50 shots a day (which I do!) and not waste film. Not all of those 50 pictures turn out to be good ones, though. Most of the bad ones I delete right after I take them, but some of them have made it into my picture files. I thought I would share some of the pictures that didn't turn out today.
Crawling too fast.

In this one, he was sitting on the pillow shaking the water bottle in the air. Right as I went to take the picture, he fell off of the pillow. It's blurry because I was laughing at him.
"Mommy, what are you doing with that shiny silver box thing that flashes?"

The thing about growth spurts is
your child puts away more food than you would ever think possible. This is what Tate ate today.
Breakfast - 6 oz. of milk, 1 whole banana waffle w/blueberry fruit spread, 2 snack-size containers of mandarin oranges.
Snack - 1 package of Gerber fruit snacks and 6 oz. of water (with a splash of apple juice for flavor!)
Lunch - 1/2 a jar of Gerber green beans, 2 whole pieces of cheese toast (Chris calls it Cheese Dream - yuck!), 2 slices of ham, 1 whole kiwi and about 20 cheerios.
Snack - about 20 cut up pieces of mango, more cheerios and a drinkable yogurt.
Dinner - The rest of the green beans from lunch, plus another 3/4 of a jar, 1 lunch size container of mini raviolis, about 40 green grapes cut up into pieces and about 15 cheddar snack crackers.
I have no idea where he hid all of this food, but it all went in his mouth and none of it came back out. (At least out of his mouth!)
After all of this food, I fully expect NONE of the new clothes I bought him last week to fit him tomorrow when he wakes up. In fact, I'll probably find that his pj's have burst off of him (a la the Incredible Hulk) when I go to get him out of bed in the morning.
The other thing about growth spurts is the sleeping. I put Tate to bed at 6:30 last night as he just couldn't keep his eyes open any longer and he slept straight through, without so much as a peep until 7:30 this morning. Amazing. Too bad he doesn't do that every night!
Don't worry, I haven't forgotten
I'm still trying to figure out how to post a video link on here. I accidentally captured Tate's very first step on camera Friday. It was a total fluke! So, I have that video and I'm working on figuring out how to upload it to a video hosting site so I can link it on here. Hopefully I'll figure it out soon.
On to the pictures.
Sleeping last night. Notice the burpy around his neck!

You can't tell from these pictures
but we're having a b-a-d day and it's only 9:30 am. Teething stinks. It's awful and horrible and I wish it would stop. Tate's working on 4 molars right now and they're really wearing on both of us. You can feel the four huge lumps under his gums and if you can happen to catch a brief glimpse, the gums are white and puffy. Poor guy.
This morning he woke up at 6:15 screaming. Unusual for him because he always wakes up happy as can be. I got him up and he wouldn't eat or even drink his milk, when he loves. Finally got a little bit of blueberry muffin, some yogurt and some milk in him. While I was sneaking that food in him, he proceeded to throw mango all over the kitchen. The dogs were in heaven. It must have been like manna (sp?) from the sky to them!
He went back to sleep from 7:15-8:15 and now he's back asleep again, with the help of some Tylenol. I'm hoping he'll be pleasant enough to take to singing/story time at the library. That would be a good distraction and would make the day go by faster.
Anyways, here are some new pictures from this morning. Is it possible to share too many pics? I don't think so...I'm wondering if others think so.
I think he looks more and more like Chris everyday.

Consignment Shopping
Tate is rapidly outgrowing most of his clothes. After 11 months, you would think I would realize that this is going to keep happening, but I don't. Everytime his clothes start to get too small, I'm baffled. Simply can't figure it out. (Don't tell NASA that, though! They might not want me.)
So, my mission yesterday was to find some more warm weather clothes for Tate without spending too much money since A) He's just going to outgrow them. (maybe I DO learn!) and B) I'm *hoping* the weather will get cool soon.
My first stop was Pitter Patter, a children's consignment shop about 5 minutes away. Jackpot! They were having a 'Buy 2, Get 1 Free' sale on all of their clearance items. I got 6 pairs of shorts and 7 shirts, mostly collared, button up front style (GAP, Polo, Gymboree and Children's Place brands) and just try and guess how much money I spent.
$28. How can you beat that? The best part is that the button up front shirts can be worn with long sleeves underneath should the weather actually turn cool here and the shirts still fit him, of course.
I love Consignment Shops. There are 2 great children ones in town and I always find the best deals there.

Pictures from today - post #2
No, he didn't really drink the dogs water. But he was slip-sliding all over the floor trying to stand up after he splashed it out. I was laughing so hard, I was crying. And yes, those are horribly mis-matched pajamas. Daddy said he couldn't find matching ones...I think he secretly did it on purpose to drive me nuts.
Pictures from today - post #1
There are a lot, so I'll do them in 2 batches.
Drunk baby.
He loves to crawl around with a book under his hand. That hand slips on the carpet and he thinks he's sooo funny.
What's this? A step? Nope. The big orange ball rolled away from him and I happened to catch this pic right before he fell on his padded booty.

Hello? Are you out there? Can you hear me?
Who is reading this? Looking at the adorable baby pics? Wondering if I really think NASA will call me?
Leave a comment, let me know who ya are.
Play Away
I signed Tate up for a baby-gym-type-place called Play Away. My friend Dana was signing up her twin boys and told me that they were waiving the registration fee, and that would cut the cost in half. We did a free trial session last week and Tate loved it and BONUS: was exhausted afterwards! So, we signed up. It's a lot of fun.
We go every Tuesday, but the other classes for our age group aren't full, so we can go for free to any of those as well. Plus, they have open play times that we can go to for free too.
Anyways, we went today and I took some pictures of the boys enjoying themselves. They really loved the bubbles.
So. Tired. Can't. Climb. Any. More.

More bubbles. Tate was so excited, he tried to walk...forgetting that he doesn't know how to by himself yet!
I'm Expecting a Call from NASA any minute now.
After hearing that it only took me 3 hours to figure out how to transfer music from my old computer to my new one and set up my itrip, I'm sure they'll be calling to ask me to fix those pesky spaceship problems. It was pretty much rocket surgery, afterall. Sadly, I'll have to turn them down, since school started this week. I just won't have time. Plus, I still have to figure out how to upload videos to this blog. I fully expect that to take years.
Now, onto the pictures.
"Look Ma, no hands!"

World's Strongest Baby (How many of you can move a hippo with one hand? Yeah, that's what I thought. Title remains.)
